putting it all together…..literally..
New studio… new space….new art…
Hey Everyone;
Hope your doing well. I am excited to be getting back to the studio, especially a new one… kinda…lol …after taking some much needed time off to work on some additional projects, we are ready to get back to creating.. so we underwent the arduous task of moving the entire studio…. not sure what possessed me ..but we were able to move to a larger space to accommodate the larger pieces I have been working on…. after 15 years of work and a collection of “stuff”, it was a chore, but I am happy to report that we are fully moved and are up and running. ……I’ve added a couple a pics of a “clean” studio…. because we know this won’t last long…. lol.. this way we know what the before looked like……. anyway time to get creating.. new work out soon.. take care!!
peace….

The Healing Tree……
Hey everyone…
Hope your surviving the heat!.. Here is a recent piece I photographed. We have a big Eucalyptus tree on the art compound and it creates some great lighting opportunities… The refined eucalyptus oil is said to have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic attributes …some really great medicinal properties….
This was taken with a Nikon D5000 in natural sunlight…its titled.. “The Healing Tree”…. have a great week everyone… new work out soon… talk to you all later

What do you mean We can’t surf here?
Hey everyone…
Hope your having a great week…. can’t believe the weather went from 84 last week to over 109 this week… the upside is that working with oils, they are always pliable and easy to get out of the tubes…. anyway here is my latest.. funny thing its acrylic..lol… this was inspired by a recent trip to Newport Beach…seems like the best waves to surf are always where they say you can’t…thing about great waves is that they don’t read signs..neither do surfers….lol.. this is 72in x 44in.. it is acrylic, gesso, aluminum filings… it is titled “Utopian Surf”… hope you all enjoy.. I’ll have another one out shortly..
peace……..

catching the wave!!
… I recently have seen a lot of discussions on Facebook between several artists, all commenting on how much they love starting with a blank canvas, as it opens the possibilities to anything… however true that is… for me starting is probably the single most difficult thing of making a painting… I can stare for hours at a blank canvas… sometimes days or weeks… I remember once it actually took me over a month to get started on a painting.. (that and a few bottles of wine…lol) for me starting a painting is like a surfer waiting for “that” perfect wave… trying to figure out, which one is the perfect ride….where is the best line….which one makes my board fly…..
…. for me the same applies to starting on a blank canvas…. staring, looking at the gesso tracks, the bend of the canvas, the light reflection, imagining the story, thinking of color….. picking the best line… and then moving forward to enjoy the ride…. heres, my brush.. there goes the paint… we are off……so heres to hoping that your catching the best possible wave….
Here is my latest painting.. it is oil, 40 x 40, it is titled “Fluidity”
hope you all enjoy… I’ll have another one out shortly
………peace
